About the Author

Meredith McClaren is an illustrator and cartoonist who has no business doing either.

She sometimes entertains the idea of drawing the fourth book in Jen Van Meter’s Hopeless Savages series and the Dark Horse comic Heart in a Box written by Kelly Thompson.  And her journal comic Scraps indulges her closeted narcissism.

Supposedly she has a postal code in Arizona, but really, she could be anywhere.

Oh.
And don’t touch her stuff.
Seriously.

  4. I would like very much to give you money for a physical copy of this comic. Is there a way to go about this? :D

  5. @Anonymous: ^_^

@Stardruid: Such a prestigious spot! I shall endeavor to be worthy of it!

@Jackie: And I to take your money! But alas, no. There are no printed copies of "Hinges" yet, nor any other merchandise to speak of, but I am working to remedy that.
    (Sorry!)

  6. I'm really curious about Hinges, and while I look forward to the updates, I actually have no idea what the story is about. Can we get something like a mini summary? I feel a bit as if I'm picking up a book with no summary on the back.

    1. Hmm...
      Fair enough.
Give me some time and I'll see what I can come up with.

  8. Greetings from Spain! I've finally read all pages of Hinges and I really love this comic. It's unique, genuine and with a magic style of drawing. I tried to donate you some € because I think this a real PRO PRO work (and pros have to be paid, in my opinion), but paypal says me that there's an error and I can't do it. What can we do? I think that you deserve it ;) .

(Sorry for possible mistakes with the language :$ )

    1. Hello!
Thank you so much for all the kind words!

As for the donate button the error was mine.
I put the button up when the site first launched and found that it didn't help much.
So a few months ago I disabled the option.
I thought I had deleted the button from all my sites, but apparently I missed one.

      I'm sorry for the confusion!

If you'd still like to support HINGES though, check back here in the next couple of weeks!
I will be launching a KICKSTARTER campaign to get the first book published and I would be thrilled if you could help out!
(Plus, that way you get a book ^_^)

      Thank you again!

    2. Oh, wow! That's quite better than only donate! I'll be here no matter what ;) .

And don't worry about the confusion. Thanks to it, I'll have a precious HINGES book in my room :D .

Thank you for doing quite a fantastic comic! I hope KS campaing to be a success. See ya!

  9. Are there any books available, even though the Kickstarter campaign is over?

    1. The Kickstarter was to fund the first printing of books. So while there are no books yet, there will be books available for purchase in the future.

  10. I just read your work from start to finish and I'm completely head over heels in love with your artwork and the story. I'd most definitely buy a printed version. Is there any way to get notified when the printing happens so that I can make sure I get one? You're an amazing artist - keep it up, I can't wait to see what happens next.

  11. Is there an update on the print version? I'm working on my MFA and focusing on sequential art-based storytelling. In my research for inspirational material, I came across your work and I love it. If there is a print version of Hinges in the works, I'd love to purchase a copy.

I've been digging around the internets, without much luck. Aside from Hinges, do you have other works already in print that I might be able to get my hands on?

    1. Yep! A print version does indeed exist.
I'm organizing things so that they can be sold online by the end of the month, so check back shortly!

I've also done some work for the Adventure Time GN: Playing with Fire and a journal comic called SCRAPS: http://iniquitousfish-scraps.blogspot.com/

      Thanks!

  12. I was just at the comic con in Seattle, and saw your booth. My friend stopped to look, even though at that moment I was tired and distracted. Picked up that 5$ paper back book you were selling and was hooked. Asked for a card and found this web page.
Now 2 days later I finished the comic, plan on buying the book. Next year if you're in Seattle comic con again I'll bring the book for you to sign!
    You're an incredible artist!

  13. Hello there! Some time ago I stumbled upon your comic and fell in love with the story and the artwork. Hinges is a truly, wonderfully unique comic. Yesterday I became the proud owner of a physical copy of Hinges. In the future I would love to own a second, signed book. Is there any way to request a signature while ordering from your Storenvy?

Thank you for your time and your lovely comic!

    1. Hello!
I'm glad you enjoy the comic and the book.

At the moment there's no option on my storenvy to indicate whether or not one wants a signed copy. However, a few previous customers have made the request either in the buyer's instructions via paypal, or have emailed me after the purchase to let their preference known.

In your case, hang tight for about two weeks. I think we can work something out.

      Thank you much!
      -Meredith

    1. Oh gosh. It was a LOONNNGGG time ago that I formatted all this. Um. But basically I made a blogspot with one post showing on the front page, and then use copy and past to organize links to the PREVIOUS and NEXT pages.

There's probably an easier way to do it. I just don't know how... :/
